Introduction
The video shows the first stage penile urethroplasty.
Material and methods
Patient 30 years old with penile stricture due to a penile trauma.The urethral lumen was completely involved by the scar, and the patient has urinated for two months through a sovrapubic cistostomy.
Surgical technique: we do a ventral-sagittal incision. We free the urethra from the scarred tissues. Complete section of the urethra and we do the first stage urethroplasty with buccal mucosa graft
(4 x 2 cm) harvested from the cheek.
Results
Six months after the first stage, we performed the second stage urethroplasty for the final reconstruction of the urethra and the penis.
Conclusion
When the scar involves a considerable part of urethra, the reconstruction is made by means of a staged urethroplasty. A one-stage urethroplasty in this case would have a high failure rate and a high rate of complications such as urethral chorda with consequent penile curvature.
